This is a premium product aimed at agencies and freelance web designers. If you only have one website the premium price is hard to justify.
If, on the other hand you run an agency, it can really boost your productivity, and therefor your profitability.
With a Genesis Pro yearly subscription you get…
- 10 StudioPress themes (but not third party themes)
- Genesis Pro plugin (which is like Genesis Blocks but with more layouts)
- and Genesis Custom Blocks. Genesis custom blocks enables you to build your own custom blocks.
Who needs Genesis Pro?
It’s aimed at web design agencies and freelance web designers who build a lot of websites. The cost and return on investment is hard to justify if you have only one or two websites.
Genesis Blocks (free)
Genesis Blocks is a free page layout plugin. You can use it to build your own web pages from templates or from scratch. You do not need to know any code to build web pages using Genesis Blocks.
Genesis Blocks is ideal for people who have just one or two websites.
WP Engine Hosting
To make things even more confusing. WP Engine provide the same 10 StudioPress themes that are included in Genesis Pro, with their hosting plans. Once again, you get the StudioPress designed themes but you do not get access to the themes sold on the StudioPress site that are designed by third party developers.
WP Engine hosting does not include the Genesis Pro plugin. But you can use the free Genesis Blocks plugin. Genesis Blocks plugin includes a just a few of the ready made page templates you get with Genesis Pro.
